Narragansett Bay is a cruising ground in itself — two long passages around Conanicut Island, opening onto Newport, Jamestown, Wickford and Bristol, with the sailing capital of America at its mouth.

The bay gives you the whole range: Newport's buzzing, expensive, magnificent harbor; free anchorages like Potter Cove a bridge away; and the snug all-round shelter of Wickford up a narrow creek. A reliable summer southwesterly runs up the passages by afternoon — plan your night around it.
