Watch Hill is the genteel corner where Rhode Island meets the sound — a Victorian resort village, the Flying Horse Carousel, and a snug little cove behind the point.
Approach carefully past the shoals and current off Watch Hill Point, then take a mooring in the cove (Ch 68); it's small and largely filled, with little room to anchor. Protection is good all round once you're tucked in. Ashore, the Ocean House, the shops and the carousel are a short walk from the town docks, and the beaches are excellent.
A pretty, upscale overnight — reserve a mooring ahead in season and mind the current on the way in and out.
Hazards & cautions. The approach from Fishers Island Sound runs near shifting shoals and a strong tidal current off Watch Hill Point — read the chart and favor a fair tide. The cove is small and mostly moorings; anchoring room is minimal. Fills fast in season.
